Raman Raheja is an India sports business professional. He is a first generation live entertainment & media professional with over 25 years of experience in Events, Sports Business, Live Entertainment, TV, Radio, Digital Media, and Creative Arts[1] — donning the hats of a Sports Management Professional, Media Exponent, Sports Entrepreneur, Event manager, creative director, producer, and start-up advisor to name a few.[2]

Personal & Career

Raman Raheja studied at Delhi Public School, R.K Puram, thereafter graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce Hons degree in 1993, from from Motilal Nehru College, University of Delhi in New Delhi. He started working as an Event Manager at India's premier Event Management company, Wizcraft in 1996 and since then has spent more than 2 decades in the business. Apart from being a respected Sports business and entertainment media professional, Raheja is a successful serial entrepreneur, angel investor,[3] public speaker, start-up coach, and mentor. Raman is perhaps one of the few Sports business professionals who have created and managed more than one Sports Leagues in India. He was also instrumental in launching the 1st Sports Salary Report of India. It was a Research based report which showcased how Sports stars are paid in different Sports Leagues in India. [4]

World Kabaddi League

He left in 2013 to start a Kabaddi revolution in India with World Kabaddi League .[5]. Thereafter Kabaddi revolution started in India with 4000 years old Sport getting centre stage [6]. Since 2014, Kabaddi has become one of the most watched sports in India with 2 leagues starting at same time Pro Kabaddi League and World Kabaddi League [7].featuring on National TV at prime time slots.

Sports Flashes - 1st Sports Radio in India

In 2016 he started a Digital Media venture with Sports Flashes, which became the first Sports Radio in India. It had over 3,000 hours of Sports radio programming,[8] winning millions of fans in India and around the world.[9]. By virtue of being exclusive Audio rights holders of Cricket with BCCI, ICC and multiple other Cricket Boards, Sports Flashes went on to become world's leading Sports Radio on the internet.[10] Raheja served on the board of Sports Flashes and later exited when Sports Flashes merged the Radio business with ITV Network in 2021.[11]

Legends League Cricket

Going back to Sports Leagues business, Raheja conceptualised and created a Cricket League with recently retired cricketers. Called as Legends League Cricket [12] The League has top legends of cricket playing in T20 format and is hosted in Oman.[13]. The League's 1st season was played in a tri-series format with 3 teams namely, India Maharajas, Asia Lions and World Giants played against each other. The league too some very good initiates towards women empowerment in sports. They signed Jhulan Goswami as the brand ambassador and also had and all women panel of Match officials for adjudication of the League. This was a first of its kind of initiatives in the history of Men's Cricket.[14]

Raman Raheja along with Ravi Shastri [15] who is the Commissioner of Legends League Cricket and Vivek Khushalani, Charirman of the league have together made it into a global cricket league with lot of fan base.[16]
