Rajaram Rama Salvi[1] (born – 16 April 1946) is a politician from Maharashtra and the head and founder of an organization called "Agri Sena"[1]. To organize the Agri community settled for generations in the Agars of Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Nashik, etc. by proclaiming "Stop the trade of Bravery, Celebrate Valor". Agri Sena was formed on August 1, 1986 in Kalwa, Thane with the aim of destroying the animosity between generations in the Agri community and creating warmth and harmony among the community. He also founded the labor organization "Kamgar Ekta", a labor organization to solve the problems of his local project victims and youth and mainly workers. In the early days of the Agri Sena, inspired by a different feeling, he founded this trade union.

Personal Life

Rajaram Salvi was born on 16 April 1946 in the village of Kalwa in Thane. His father Rama Chahu Salvi was the president of Kalwa village panchayat and a respected villager of Kalwa village. His mother's name was Jankibai Salvi. Rajaram Salvi has siblings whose names are elder sister Chandrabhaga, father brother Raghunath, elder brother Yashwant (Saiba) and younger brother Manohar. Rajaram Salvi completed his education up to Class IX from a local school.

Political movement

The spark of identity towards the Agri community fell in his school life when he stopped a teacher who mocked the Agri language in class. He started his first fight in life from National Machinery Manufacturing Company. The corrupt officials and union office bearers who were against the interest of the local unemployed youth were beaten with bamboo by the unemployed youth united under the leadership of Yashwant Salvi (SaIba) and the third Bamboo Union emerged in NMM[2]. After that he formed a union "Association of Engineering Works" affiliated to INTUC.

Formation of Agri Sena

On August 1, 1983, the revolutionary organization "Agri Sena"[1][3] was established with social consciousness, with only Agri community at the center, giving the mantra "Stop the trade of Bravery, Celebrate Valor". In the rural areas of Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Nashik, he went to every village and interacted with the villagers and explained to them the role of Agri Sena.

Thane Municipal Corporation Election

In the Thane Municipal Corporation elections, whether it is Congress or Shiv Sena, a measure was taken to ensure that the positions of prestige remain with Agri Community. His younger brother Manohar Salvi[4] was elected as mayor for two consecutive terms. Along with this, most of the committees were dominated by the Agri community. Rajaram Salvi has played a lion's share in bringing honor and dignity to the Agri society and the Agri corporators in the Thane Municipal Corporation.

Joined Samajwadi Party

Only because of the bitter experience of being a backward class when not being a backward class. He realized the oppression and exploitation of the backward class and Dalit community and from that expanded his political equations and organized the Bahujan Samaj Parishad at the state level with the help of his colleagues for the downtrodden Dalit and backward class Bahujan community. After this, Rajaram Salvi joined the Samajwadi Party[5] and assumed responsibility as the Maharashtra Pradesh President. The Samajwadi Party was strengthened by his leadership, and his leadership was also noticed in Delhi. Further, in the 1998 Lok Sabha elections, when the alliance of Maharashtra Congress, Republican Party and Samajwadi Party was taking shape, Rajaram Salvi strongly opposed the decision of bypassing the state president and the local workers to pledge the party to the Congress in the matter of allotment of seats.

BJP entry

After joining the BJP[6], he joined hands with Gopinath Munde and Pramod Mahajan and actively participated in campaign meetings and campaigns across Maharashtra. An honest attempt was made to take the politics forward by holding the Bahujan community. He had a close friendly relationship with Gopinath Munde. Keeping in mind the interest of Rajaram Salvi, OBC Corporation was established and handed over to Rajaram Salvi. This corporation provided charity, financial assistance and numerous other facilities transparently to the general public. From this desire, the founder of Kunbi Sena, Vishwanath Patil, supported him as much as possible. He also made a sincere effort to build a tribal army along with the component society.
