Rachana Rimal (Nepali: रचना रिमाल) is a Nepalese singer. She have sang more than eight hundred Nepali songs in less than two years.[1][2]
She initially gained public recognition through singing reality program Nepal Idol in 2019, where she was also one of the participants.[3][4] She was one of the top ten contestants of Nepal Idol season 3, and also highest voted contestant for three times in a row.[5]
Controversies
Cricket match and Cricket Association of Nepal
There was a rumor Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) invited Rimal to watch a cricket match, for which she declined the rumor and said that she bought the ticket by herself and went to watch the match, some officials of CAN recognized her and invited her as a special guest. There was also rumor that CAN asked her for explanation regarding her sudden arrival to watch a match without following protocols, for which, Rimal and CAN both declared that it is just a rumor, and it's not true.[6][7]
Nabirse Timilai
Rimal was criticized by many for singing remake version of popular Nepali song 'Nabirse Timilai' which was originally sang by Anju Panta.[8] Main reason behind the criticism was because creator and lyricist of this song, Bipin Kiran did not gave credit to the original singer, for which reason Rimal and Kiran were criticized. Original singer Anju Panta made a post regarding this matter in her social media account, she claimed that the composer and arranger of this song originally asked her to sing the remake version of this song, and the arranger even sent her new arrangement of the song.[9]
