Plot
Set in Rajasthan, ‘Raat Baaki Hai’ is a murder mystery that unfolds over the course of a night when famous Bollywood actress Vaani Chopra is found murdered in her plush suite at the opulent Ranthambore Palace Hotel hours after her engagement party with her boyfriend and script writer Kartik Sharma. Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh Ahlawat, who is torn between official duties and personal loyalty, is given the unenviable task of sanitizing the crime scene to protect a powerful benefactor as well as finding the culprit before dawn breaks. When Ahlawat discovers that Vaani’s fiancé Kartik has fled from the crime scene, he naturally becomes the focus of Ahlawat’s suspicions, and a manhunt is launched to trace and apprehend Kartik. However, Kartik, who has a history of violent and abusive behavior when under the influence of alcohol, is not the only suspect in the case. As the night progresses, Ahlawat, who is racing against time to solve the murder, realizes that the case is getting murkier by the minute with clues pointing towards multiple suspects who may have had reasons to kill Vaani, including a film producer who had threatened to kill Vaani hours before her murder while at the party and the mysterious benefactor who is pulling Ahlawat’s strings like a master puppeteer and seems to have a personal stake in the matter. Meanwhile, Kartik, who is on the run, follows the advice of a local and reaches the palatial mansion of Raja Sujjan Singh, who is known for helping people in distress. However, on reaching the mansion, Kartik is shocked to discover that the Raja’s wife Vasuki, is none other than his former girlfriend, who is aware of Kartik’s dark side. As old flames are rekindled and the past is raked up, it becomes evident that there is something more than what meets the eye with regards to Vaani’s murder. Even as Kartik tries to convince Vasuki of his innocence and enlist her help in saving himself, Ahlawat is closing in on him despite his suspicions that the case is not as open and shut as it seems. Time is running out... for predator and prey alike!![3]
