R. Govindaraj (born 1985) is an Indian film editor from Tamil Nadu who has been touted to be one of the best Upcoming film editor from the state. He has worked closely with Balaji Tharaneetharan, Vijay Sethupathi, C. Prem Kumar and Govind Vasantha.

Career

Govind completed his Editing degree at M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute and then went onto work as an Assistant editor with Mathan Gunadeva in Poo, Nepali (film).

Govind finally made his debut as a main Editor along with Balaji Tharaneetharan for his first movie - Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom which became a cult hit and for this movie, Govind won the Best Editor award at Norway Tamil Film Festival Awards (2013)[1]. Govind has worked in all of Balaji's subsequent movies - Oru Pakka Kathai & Seethakaathi.

Later in 2018, Govind got his next major breakthrough with '96 (film) which was one of the best films of that year and attained Cult status[2][3][4]. Some of his other significant editorial works include are Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren, Asuravadham & Kamali from Nadukkaveri[5]. Parallelly, he has also worked on many corporate ads, trailers and documentaries.

His next venture is Tughlaq Durbar staring Vijay Sethupathi & R. Parthiban which is directed by Delhi Prasad Deenadayal[6].
