QI Macros is a statistics package add-in tool for Microsoft Excel which was developed by Jay Arthur in 1997.[1] It allows users to analyze data by using histograms with Cp/Cpk, Pareto charts, scatter plots, box and whisker plots, and all control charts.[2] QI Macros has users in hospitals and the healthcare industry[3][4][5], government agencies educational institutions[6][7], the automotive industry, the aerospace industry, the food and drug industry, the manufacturing industry, and service industries.[8][9][10] QI Macros features an array of Six Sigma tools as well as lean product development (Lean) tools such as value-stream mapping, a Lean Scorecard, and others. It can handle statistical analysis including ANOVA and t-tests and also has “fill-in-the-blank” templates for creating Ishikawa diagrams (or fishbone diagrams,) Gage R&R tests, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA,) and others.[9][11][12][13] Additionally, QI Macros includes a Control Chart Wizard that selects the right control chart based on user data and a Pivot Table Wizard which simplifies the process of analyzing complicated transaction files. QI Macros is distributed by KnowWare International, Inc., a privately-owned company located in Denver, CO, United States. For PC, the latest version of QI Macros (Version 2021.01) is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10 with Excel 2013 – 2019 and Office 365. For Mac it is compatible with OS X Yosemite through macOS Big Sur with Excel 2019 and Office 356.[12][14]
