PROA Comunicación is a Spanish consulting firm specialized in corporate communications. Founded in Madrid in 2009, since 2015 it promotes the Proa Observatory for the analysis of communication.[1]
History
The company was created by Cantabrian journalist Lucía Casanueva,[2] specialized in corporate, financial, and crisis communications.[3] The name of the consulting firm was inspired by the magazine "Proa a la mar" and refers to its Cantabrian and seafaring origins.[3]
In 2015, the company was re-founded and Valvanuz Serna joined as managing partner. Serna, also from Cantabria, had worked in the consumer goods and professional services sectors and had been part of Llorente y Cuenca.[2] The firm is focused on medium-sized companies and the associative sector.[4]
By 2020 the company adopted a new strategic positioning, the renewal of the visual image, website, slogan, and logo.[5] In 2022 a new headquarters was inaugurated with the introduction of the report "La nueva comunicación y marketing empresariales en tiempos de post pandemia, crisis económica y guerra "("The new business communication and marketing in times of post pandemic, economic crisis and war") by journalist and lawyer José Antonio Zarzalejos.[6]
The company develops its international work through partnerships with Vae Solis Communications and Corpcom.[7]
Proa Observatory
In 2015, the Proa Observatory was created as a forum for regular debate. Politicians, businessmen and cultural figures have taken part in it: José Luis Martínez-Almeida (Partido Popular), Javier Ortega-Smith (Vox),[8] Cristóbal Montoro,[9] Olga Cuenca, Jordi Sevilla, Ana Pastor,[10] Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, Manuel Sala,[11] General Félix Sanz Roldán,[12] and others.
Among the conferences held by Observatorio Proa, the one held at the Círculo Ecuestre in Barcelona was particularly noteworthy. It was dedicated to parallel trials or the so-called "newsreel punishment". Juan Carlos Campo, judge of the Audiencia and former Minister of Justice,[1] the prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Javier Zaragoza,[13] and Pau Molins, defender of Infanta Cristina, spoke at the meeting.[14]
