Pranav Bhargav is an international male fashion model[1] who began his career after being a finalist in Elite Model Look India Pageant in 2015. Pranav began his modelling career in Mumbai before being scouted by the London male modelling agency, SUPA Model Management in 2019.
Pranav relocated to London and quickly became a prominent Indian face internationally, working in London, New York, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Mallorca, Berlin, Stockholm and more[2]. Before Pranav entered the international market, there were very few Indian male models in the industry.
Early life and education
Pranav was born in Purnia (Jankinagar) which is seven hours away from Patna in Bihar. Growing up Pranav was an introverted child who loved playing cricket over studying. Over time he learned to face his fears and grow in confidence.
After school, he moved to Nagpur, Maharashtra, where he pursued mechanical engineering. He left college as he realised it was not the right path for him and started his career in Modeling.
Modelling career
In 2015 Pranav moved to Mumbai where he worked in the travel industry. It was during this time that his friend persuaded him to enter the Elite Model Look India Pageant. He surprised himself by being in the top two of the competition. Soon after he joined a modelling agency in Mumbai and began working with Indian brands. Working in the Indian market was challenging as there is a preference of working with celebrities, cricketers, and fair-skinned models.
Pranav was working with Inega when he was scouted by SUPA Model Management. In London his career took off and he became one of the few Indian faces to work with British, European and American heritage brands.
Pranav is the first male model of Indian origin for many of his clients, changing industry standards and perceptions of beauty[3]. He is making the fashion industry more diverse and inclusive. He was the first Indian face for Marks & Spencer, Dolce & Gabbana, Harrods, Orlebar Brown, Todd Snyder, Bloomingdales and more.
Pranav was the face of Coca Cola’s campaign in 2018, he walked the runway for Dolce & Gabbana in 2019[4] and he featured in Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall Winter campaign[4] in 2021 alongside David Gandy[5]. He was the first Indian model to feature in the swimwear brand, Orlebar Brown’s Autumn 2019.[6] campaign.
Pranav has been on the cover of magazines including Man About Town, Desire Homme and Citizen K. He has shot many editorials for publications such as GQ, Gentleman’s Journal, Men’s Health Magazine, Travel + Leisure.
