Pragya Akhilesh is an Indian investigative journalist and a notable trade unionist.[1] She is also the national secretary of Bhim Safai Karmachari Trade Union.[2][3] For her work on sanitation workers she is known as one of the most prolific sanitation crusaders of India.[4]She writes for the Indian Express, Outlook, Deccan Herald, Hindustan Times, The Wire, DownToEarth.[5][6]She has pointed out many irregularities with the SBM by pointing out that the government has been only focusing on infrastructure development rather than focusing on the rights of manual scavengers in India.[7][8][9]
