Poonkhar is a small village of 1112 hectares in Alwar Tehsil in Alwar district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Poonkhar depends on RAJGARH, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, which is 230.00% of the total supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Poonkhar is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Poonkhar's pin code is 301414[4], and village code is 00863600. The area of Poonkhar is segregated as 333 hectares irrigated area, 597 hectares unirrigated, the 58.04 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 124 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Poonkhar is a census village in the district of Alwar, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 3427 and has total administration over 574 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of RAJGARH and Alwar to sell earthen pot and make their living.
