Ponchavadi is a small village of 1584 hectares in Ponda Tehsil in North Goa district, known and rated to have the best quality of life in India (based on the commission’s “12 Indicators”)[2] in the state of Goa, India.[3] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Ponchavadi depends on SANVORDEM, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[4] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and One spring. Ponchavadi is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Ponchavadi's pin code is 403706[5], and village code is 00021300. The area of Ponchavadi is segregated as 68.22 hectares irrigated area, 1087.48 hectares unirrigated, the 230.49 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 198.11 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of SANVORDEM and North Goa to sell coconut and make their living.
