Pokaran (Rural) is a small village of 13803 hectares in Pokaran Tehsil in Jaisalmer district, nicknamed ""The Golden city"" in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Pokaran (Rural) depends on POKARAN, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Pokaran (Rural) is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Pokaran (Rural)'s pin code is 345021[4], and village code is 02051900. The area of Pokaran (Rural) is segregated as 40 hectares irrigated area, 3895 hectares unirrigated, the 7781 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 2087 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of POKARAN and Jaisalmer to sell wool and make their living.
