Pirouette is a 2020 Australian short horror film, directed by Peter David Howard and Glenn Delaney in Melbourne, Australia. The film features Ani Priyo as 'Kate' and Hannah Sims as 'The Ballerina'. It tells the story about a young woman who purchases a haunted ballerina box and is terrorised by the entity.

The film was completed on 20 August 2020 and is expected to be released in 2021.

Official selections and awards

In October 2020, Pirouette was an official selection of the Short To The Point film festival[1] and later received the Best Horror of the Month Award[2]. Pirouette was an official selection of Monster Fest 2020 and screened alongside the feature Vicious Fun at Event Cinemas in Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney on Halloween[3]. The film later screened in Melbourne at the Cinema Nova in the Monster Fest Shorts 2020 Program on the 7 December.[4] The film has also been selected to screen at the International Russian Film Awards in 2021, the date of the screening is to be confirmed.[citation needed]

Reception

Sally Christie, author, film critic and radio host of the 3RRR Primal Screen program reviewed the short:

"It's a really difficult task to achieve genuine suspense and originality with a short, but Pirouette nailed it! The sound design is absolutely stunning and I can't wait to see what Peter and Glenn do next!".

The film is yet to be rated on an online platform.
