Pilgrim High School is based in Rhode Island's Pilgrim Park. The building only has one level, however it has a number of different corridors that are designated for different classes. The building had a number of restorations, the most recent of which took place in 2016, before the process of consolidation was initiated. The shape of an American Revolution soldier's head created by the words "Pilgrim High School Patriots" is the official school logo. Nevertheless, the letter "P" in the school's official colours is utilised for the majority of the school's sporting teams.

It opened in the middle of the 1963 academic year to solve congestion at Warwick Veterans High School, which at the time of opening taught approximately four thousand pupils. In spite of this, by the late 1960s, the brand-new facility had already become infamous for its use of a double session schedule in order to deal with the issue of having an over capacity. After many years of student population decline, the education administration made an attempt to consolidate schools, which resulted in Pilgrim High School's current enrolment of 1,400 pupils.

Pilgrim was previously well-known for its athletics, and most especially for its baseball club, which had a dynasty era during which it won many state titles. The majority of the school's titles were garnered throughout the decade of the 1970s. The last several years have seen a rebirth in the sporting programmes at the institution. Recently, the cheerleading squad, the boys' ice hockey team, and the boys' soccer team all won their respective division titles. The football team finally competed in the state's Division III Super Bowl since their last participation in 1995, however they were unsuccessful. This came after they had just three winning seasons between 1995 and 2018, a span of 22 years.
