Petre Naskidashvili was a Georgian scientist in the field of plant genetics, selection, seed breeding, search of genetic resources, protection, and use. He considered to be one of the greatest and most influantial scientists in former soviet union and in the world, his two Books "Wheat selection in Georgia" (Co author) which he published in Georgian language in 1983 and another in Russian language "Inter-variet hybridization of Wheat" (Author) published in 1984 are considered as fundamental guide books and one of main guidelines in wheat culture.[1][2]

Petre Naskidashvili was born 27 November in 1928 in village Vale, Georgia in Meskheti region south of Georgia in the family of Pavle Naskidashvili and Salome Merabisvhili, from mothers side his ancestors are one of the oldest Nobel houses of Georgia, Chorchaneli. During his education he moved to the capital of Georgia Tbilisi, he studied in Georgian agricultural university. In Tbilisi he met and married Dali Abuladze; she was philologist and sister of outstanding Georgian film maker Tengiz Abuladze. From marriage Petre Naskdiashvili Got two daughters Ia and Maka Naskidashvili.

Petre Naskidashvilis studies can be divided into different periods, at the beginning his studies referred to the gene pool of Georgia wheat, corn and bean, conservation and investigation of their genetic and selective properties. Later he studied endemic species of wheat, through genetic study of aboriginal and selective varieties he found that the genes of the genotype determine the development of a number of valuable features and properties. In different soil and climatic conditions concentration of adaptive genes in genotype are very important for aboriginal varieties that influence plasticity and stability. The genotype of endemic and aboriginal spaces have genes which are important against fungal disease.

Very important step in his scientific life and in agricultural science is identifying by him Lethal gene, namely, hybrid necrosis, redhybrid nechrosis and yellow hybrid chlorosis, these genes help varieties to keep varieties intact for a thousand years. His findings of Phylogenetics connection between old wheat varieties and soft forms has huge importance. He found out that old wheat forms did not lose value for both inter and intra-variety hybridization. researches of Petre Naskidashvili were wide, his talent considered to be universal, and has huge importance of development of agricultural science that involves of using botany ,systematics, interspecies and inter-variety hybridization, cytogenetics, phylogenetics, selection, and seed growing. He is an author of 675 scientific papers, from which 501 are in Georgian language, 140 in Russian language and 34 in English language, 16 monographs,16 textbooks, 12 supplementary textBooks, he is an author or co author of more than 30 species of hybrids of grain and other crops. 1200 new forms received by him were given to Nikolay Vavilov institute of plant growing to include in the world gene pool.
