Peter John Olds (born 1930) is an Australian engineer best known for making the Olds Elevator Shaft.

Early life

Olds was born in Australia. His grandfather moved from Cornwall to Maryborough in 1868, when he was 18 years old. Olds has a brother who was born in 1925.

Notable Work

Olds is perhaps best known for inventing the Olds Elevator Shaft which, unlike most screw-based grain elevators, rotates the cylinder around the screw instead of the screw itself.
