Peter Mahfouz is an Experienced Leader with a demonstrated history of working in the civic & social organization industry. He is a Strong community and social services professional with a Master of Science - MS focused in Environmental Science from University of Balamand.
Peter Mahfouz was born on the 10th of December 1988 in Okaibe Lebanon. He went to school at Antonine Sisters School Ghazir and St. Charbel’s College in Punchbowl, Sydney Australia. After that he started his university studies at the University of Balamand in Northern Lebanon. In 2011 he graduated with a Minor in Biology and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences. He than also completed his Master’s Degree at the University of Balamand with a thesis under the title of Monitoring Climate- Based Drought Conditions in Lebanon. He graduated in 2014. He finished his PhD in Social and Human Development in the year 2023. One of the publication that were written by him is Investigating the Temporal Variability of the Standardized Precipitation Index in Lebanon - Published: 13 May 2016 Journals Climate Volume 4 Issue 2 10.3390/cli4020027.
Peter took several trainings on many topics of disaster management, first aid, fire safety and evacuation, earthquakes, EMT, disaster preparedness, International Organizations Management, leadership, communication, and many other topics.
Mahfouz started volunteering with Caritas Lebanon since 2005. In 2007 he was appointed Youth Leader for the Caritas Youth group in Koura District in North Lebanon. Later on, he took several national positions until he was appointed Head of the Youth Department in 2018. Also, Mahfouz took international positions in the Caritas Confederation as he was nominated as one of the 2 youth representatives in the Representative Council of Caritas Internationalis from 2019 till 2023.
Mahfouz established the Emergency Response Unit in Caritas Lebanon in the year 2017. This unit has been very active lately especially after the Beirut Blast in 2020, COVID response, and the humanitarian response in Syria after the 2023 earthquake.
He participated in several international conferences and trainings spreading the mission of Caritas.
