Pete Shuttleworth (born 30 March 1979) [1] is an English football coach who is currently an assistant coach for D.C. United in Major League Soccer. He joined the club in July 2022 after being recuited by form England footballer Wayne Rooney from Derby County FC [2]
Career
Born in Derbyshire, Shuttleworth is a former secondary PE teacher who worked at a school in Chesterfield. He began his coaching career whilst still working as a teacher, becoming assistant manager at non league clubs Sheffield FC, Worksop Town FC and Shirebrook Town FC [3]. He joined Birmingham City FC in July 2017 as Head of Analysis after previously working for the club as a part time scout since 2015 [4]
In July 2020 he joined Derby County FC as a first team analyst, initially working under former manager Phillip Cocu before former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney was appointed as first team manager in January 2021.[5]
Triathlons
Shuttleworth is a former international triathlete, finishing sixth for Great Britain at the 2015 Triathlon European Championships in Geneva.[6] He raced nationally and internationally, in 2012 he earned a place with Team GB for the 2012 world championships in Auckland. [6][7]
