Paula Wyczechowska (born September 5, 1991 in Athens Greece) is a former Polish recurve archer who competed internationally winning multiple medals at the World and European Championships.

Career

European Championships

She made a successful international debut in 2007 at the European Junior Championship in Algarve[1] winning her first gold medal with the women’s team at the age of fifteen.

At the European Junior Championship in Winnenden,[2] Wyczechowska won two silver medals.

Her first silver came in the mixed team event and second silver medal was won in the women's team event.

In 2010 with her teammates she won a bronze medal at the European Indoor Archery Championship in Porec.[3]

World Championships

The 2008 World Youth Championship in Antalya[4] was Wyczechowska's first appearance at the World Championship where she won bronze in the women’s team event.

The following year she became a World Champion Indoor[5] with the women's team and finished 5th in the individual event.

In 2009 Wyczechowska competed at the World Youth Championship[4] and won another bronze medal in the women’s team event.

Two years later at the World Youth Championship in Legnica she finished sixth[4] in the women’s individual recurve event and 5th[4] with the women's team.

In July 2012 in Cordoba, Wyczechowska became a silver and bronze medalist at the World University Championship[4] in recurve women's team and recurve mixed team event.

She retired from archery at the age of 21 and earned a total of 9 medals at the World and European Archery Championships.

Early and personal life

Born in Athens, Greece she moved to Poland with her parents when she was seven and took up archery as a twelve-year-old making a national team and an international debut just three years later. Ever since she started representing Poland internationally she’s been collecting medals from major archery tournaments.

In 2017 she graduated with a master's degree in physical education and sport management at the Academy of Physical Education in Cracow Poland and was awarded a scholarship by the Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding achievements in sport and education.
