Paul Lewis is a singer-songwriter, film composer, and actor best known as the lead singer of the alternative rock band Y-Not?!.[1] Lewis recorded and released two albums with Y-Not?![2], four solo albums[3], and one album with the group Paul Lewis & Romeo Rage. He has composed music for three independent films: Days of Power[4], Foreclosure Dogs, and Dark State[5]. As a film composer and actor, his work has been cited in the Los Angeles Times[6], Dread Central[7], and Cinapse[8]. A song he wrote for the feature film Days of Power won Best Pop Song from a Feature[9] at the 15th Annual Garden State Film Festival.
Lewis was also featured as himself in the 2022 documentary "Hammerjacks: The Rockumentary"[10] chronicling the storied Baltimore, MD music venue Hammerjacks. In November 2022, Lewis released the album "Sky's Rust" from the band Paul Lewis & Romeo Rage, which he formed with drummer John Sanders. The album was favorably reviewed in the online publications U.S. Rocker[11], Alternative Nation[12], and Rock Era Magazine[13]
Y-NOT?!
Lewis formed Y-Not?! with bandmates Marco Riva, Steve Wallace, Darryl Joyner, and Steve Miller in 1987[1] on the campus of Salisbury University on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The band gained a sizable following performing in Ocean City, Maryland and other cities on the U.S. Eastern Coast, following the release of the 1992 album "A Thrilled Voice" on Marquis Records[14]. The success of the album lead to performance slots on festivals such as HFStival, DC 101 Chili Cook-Off and the Preakness Live Festival[15] as well as performances with artists such as The Fixx, the Dave Matthews Band and 311.[16]
