Career

Media Producer

Paul Goodenough has lead the digital agency Aerian Studios Ltd since 1996[2], now known as Aer Studios[3], and officially became the director of the company in 2008[4]. Paul Goodenough worked for Aerian Studios until he started Rewriting Extinction.

In a collaboration with Gary Kurtz and Richard Bazley, Paul Goodenough also founded the production company GBK Hybrid in 2011[5]. During this time, Paul Goodenough was involved in productions like Offbeat[6], the short film Centurion Resurrection[7] and The Chimeran[8].

Over the years, Paul Goodenough became an Emmy-nominated writer and producer, also known for his work on "DreamWorks Dragons", "GI Joe" and "Have I Got News for You".[9]

He also worked with the online space of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy[10] and became the designer and founding member of BAFTA ALBERT, the calculator and sustainability accreditation you see appear on productions by BBC, IMG, NBC Universal, Netflix, Sky, and Warner Bros.[11]

Rewriting Extinction

In 2021, Paul Goodenough founded Rewriting Extinction. The goal was to create a global 12-month campaign[12] to raise money and awareness for both the climate and the biodiversity crisis through storytelling in the form of comics and videos. While the 12-month mark has passed in the summer of 2022, they are still active on social media and seem to continue their work beyond the original project.

Besides the website and social media content, Paul Goodenough also released a book with Rewriting Extinction, called „The Most Important Comic Book On Earth: Stories to save the world“. It was released in the fall of 2021 and is a collection of the comics of the campaign.[13] It got awarded the Sunday Times Book of the Year and made Paul Goodenough a bestselling author.[14]

Paul Goodenough’s efforts with Rewriting Extinction has received international attention and has been featured in multiple media outlets, including the BBC[15], Fox News[16], The Guardian[17], The Times[18], Daily Mail[19], and Atlas of the Future[20]. He has also been awarded the honorary title of a Greenhouse Game Changer.[21]
