Paul Adom Otchere (born 27 March 1975) is a Ghanaian people broadcast journalist who works with Metro TV (Ghana). He is the host of Good Evening Ghana one of the oldest current affairs TV programs in Ghana, airing for close to two decades.[1] He is also a board member of the National Communications Authority.[2][3][4][5]

Early life and education

Paul grew up in Burma Camp Accra,Ghana where his father an army officer first served as an infantry Lieutenant with the 3rd Battalion and later as a finance officer with the pay corps. He started his early education with Garrison Primary School, Burma Camp before continuing his secondary education at Presbyterian Boys' Senior High School. He later gain admission to Ghana's premier University, University of Ghana where he read Politics and Classics, obtaining BA. He went on to read Law obtaining LLB from the same University. He also studied at the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) where he was awarded Msc in Development Economics.[6]

Broadcast career

He started his broadcast career as a news reporter in the late 1990s, He was awarded 'Best News Reporter' of the year 2001 by the Ghana Journalist Association. He went on to cover the U.K. elections working as a news reporter for the BBC in the same year.[7] He is the producer and the host of one of Ghana's longest political talk show Good Evening Ghana[8][9] where he interviewed past and sitting presidents of the Republic of Ghana, Ministers, Members of parliament, Religious leaders, Celebrities[10][11][12] some of which included Nana Akufo-Addo, John Mahama, John Kufuor, Alan John Kyerematen, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy among others.

Awards

  • He was adjudged Best News Reporter in 2001 by Ghana Journalists Association.[13]
  • Honorary award for Contribution to the Growth of Independent Media in Ghana in 2012.

Personal life

He got married to Rosemary Adom Otchere on 30 December 2005.[14]
