Dr. Paul A. Schlag was named the 10th Director[1] of Western Illinois University's (WIU) Centennial Honors College on August 2, 2019. Previously, he served as Western Illinois University's first Chief of Staff[2] under Jack Thomas (academic)|President Jack Thomas. He has also served as Assistant Department Chair and as Associate Director of the Centennial Honors College.

An award-winning professor[3],[4] Dr. Schlag is a full professor[5] and holds tenure in Western's Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration. He holds a Ph.D. in Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of Georgia, an M.Ed. with Distinction in Instructional Technology from the University of Georgia, an M.P.A. from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs|University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and a B.S. from Brigham Young University in Recreation Management and Youth Leadership.[6]
