Pastel is an American film and television production company founded by Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, Mark Ceryak and Sara Murphy.[1]
The company's productions include Moonlight (2016), which won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2017, If Beale Street Could Talk (2018), and True Detective: Night Country (2024).[2]
On the television side, Pastel has produced The Underground Railroad (2021) and True Detective: Night Country (2024). Both were nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.[3][4]
History
The company's debut feature Moonlight, directed by Barry Jenkins, premiered at the 2016 Telluride Film Festival in September 2016. The film was released by A24 in October of the same year.[5]
In May 2017, it was announced that Pastel had signed a two year deal with Annapurna Pictures.[6]
Pastel's first television project The Underground Railroad, also directed by Jenkins, premiered on Amazon Prime Video in May 2021.[7]
