Pascal Vasselin (born May 7, 1967) is a French film director,screenwriter and journalist.

Career

Vasselin has directed awarded documentaries which have been broadcast by French and foreign television stations and platforms. He graduated from the Institut d'études politiques de Paris and the Centre de Formation des Journalistes. Initially a reporter and a cameraman[1][2], covering current affairs and conflicts[3], he turned to feature-length films and screenwriting.

Among his authored or co-authored films are : Manufacturing Ignorance (an investigation into the voluntary or involuntary impediments to scientific progress[4][5][6][7][8]); Battlefield Washington (a chronicle of Donald Trump's confrontation with American institutions[9][10][11][12]) ; Brasil, a Long Way to the Future (the recent history of Brasil as seen through the story of two families[13][14]) ; The Suspended Dream (a biopic of former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan[15][16]); L'aventure Hermione (the human adventure that led to the rebuilding and journey of an 18th century frigate)[17][18][19]; High Crimes in Shanghai (shot inside a Chinese prison [20]) ; IMF, a Power (shot at the heart of the negotiations between the IMF and its member countries, notably Russia[21][22]); Greedy in Thailand (the film dismantles the human and financial workings of speculation[23]); Alya (the story of a family that leaves Picardie for Israel); Pigalle (a chronicle shot in the Parisian neighbourhood); Torturer (the film features the voices of former torturers[24]).
