Park Jongseong (Hangul: 박정성; born April 20, 2002), known professionally as Jay, is a South Korean singer, dancer, and songwriter. He is best known as a member of the South Korean boy group Enhypen, formed through the survival show I-Land in 2020. He was placed 2nd with over 1,182,889 votes.
Early Life
Jay was born in Seattle, Washington, lived there for 9 years, and later moved to South Korea.He was named after the baseball Seattle Mariners player, Jay Buhner. He is fluent in both English and Korean. He trained under Hybe Corporation before competing on I-LAND a South Korean boy group reality competition series produced by Mnet (TV channel) and organized by Belift Lab, which at the time of airing was a joint venture between entertainment companies CJ ENM Entertainment Division and HYBE.
Career
2020- present: I-LAND and Debut with ENHYPEN
Jay participated in the reality survival show I-LAND, where he placed 2nd in the final episode, securing a spot in the debut lineup of ENHYPEN.
ENHYPEN debuted on November 30, 2020, under Belift Lab, with their extended play Border: Day One
Along with that, Jay has been in numerous shows, one of them being Synchro U which he attended with fellow K-pop star, Karina (South Korean singer). The show focuses on identifying the 1% difference between AI and real singers according to KBS World TV.
Personal Life
Jay is known for his strong stage presence, fashion sense, and blunt personality. He has shown interest in producing, songwriting, and design. He is known as the mood-maker of the group. He can cook and has a very easy personality, known for never holding grudges against anyone or any issue.
Brand Endorsements and others
From March 18 2024, Members Jay and Lee Heeseung were announced as global brand ambassadors to the luxury jewelry brand, Pomellato, and along with the boyband, Jay is a brand ambassador of Prada
He is somewhat a polyglot, learning Japanese from Manga and anime. He loves the series One Piece One Piece (1999 TV series). He knows all the Korean folk remedies, having learnt it from the family itself.
