Parham Eftekhari is an American cybersecurity executive. He co-founded the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology (ICIT), a Washington, D.C. based think tank,[1] and serves as Executive Vice President of Communities at CyberRisk Alliance.[2]

Career

Early career

In the early 2010s, Eftekhari co-founded CamPatch, a company that produced sliding webcam covers for laptops. The product was covered in CSO Online in 2012 as part of consumer privacy tools designed to prevent unauthorized webcam access.[3]

Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology

In 2014, Eftekhari co-founded the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology (ICIT).[4]

During coverage of the 2015 OPM data breach, ICIT analysis was cited in Nextgov and archived in the Homeland Security Digital Library.[5][6]

In July 2015, he was interviewed by Federal News Network on the need for greater technical expertise in Congress.[7] In 2016, he moderated an ICIT briefing on energy-sector cybersecurity risks, reported by MeriTalk.[8]

In 2020, ICIT began a multiyear initiative on federal modernization and resilience, including the Digital Consolidation Task Force on technology procurement. The effort was later reported by Nextgov[9] and catalogued in the Homeland Security Digital Library.[10]

CyberRisk Alliance

In 2022, Eftekhari was appointed Executive Vice President of Communities at CyberRisk Alliance.[11] In 2025, he appeared on The CyberWire podcast to discuss community-building in the cybersecurity sector.

Media and public commentary

Eftekhari has appeared on C-SPAN, including a 2016 discussion on energy-sector cybersecurity[12] and a 2017 segment on U.S. voting system security.[13]

In 2018, he was quoted in Government Technology about election-related email threats.[14] He has also participated in industry podcasts such as InSecurity and The CyberWire.

Awards and recognition

In 2017, Eftekhari received the (ISC)² Government Information Security Leadership Award – Most Valuable Industry Partner.[15] In 2025, he was named an honoree at the Cyber Guild’s 5th Annual Leadership Recognition Awards.[16] He has also been listed as a keynote speaker at cybersecurity conferences including InfoSec World.[17]
