Paolo Dal Pino (Milano, 26 June 1962) is an Italian entrepreneur and manager, since 8 January 2020 president of the Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A and deputy vice-president of the Italian Football Federation Italiana Giuoco Calcio.

He is also Chief executive officer|Chief Executive Officer of Telit Communication.[1]

Career

Paolo Dal Pino began his career as a manager in telecommunications in 1986 in the Fininvest group, working for the Finance and Control area of the holding company. In 1987, he moved to Arnoldo Mondadori Editore|Mondadori Group, where he worked as Chief Financial Officer. The following year he took up the position of Chief Financial Officer of the Verkerke Group[2], in Netherlands.

Between 1990 and 2001, he held various positions in the L'Espresso publishing group. He joined the company that publishes the daily newspaper La Repubblica as controller and became General Manager of the Group in 1994. Dal Pino is one of the forerunners of the Internet in Italy, having led the launch of Repubblica.it in 1996, the first Italian newspaper on the Internet, which was then the starting point for the Kataweb portal project. This experience in digital field was later extended to the management of the companies that owned Virgilio (portale)|Virgilio.it and Libero (portale)|Libero.it portals.

In 2001, he became CEO of Seat Pagine Gialle,[3] replacing Lorenzo Pellicioli at the head of the group. At the same time, he also held the role of President of the television networks LA7|La7 and MTV (Italian TV channel)|MTV, which belonged to Seat.

In 2004, Dal Pino moved to Brazil and became President of Operation of Gruppo TIM|Telecom Italia in Latin America and President of Tim Brazil, one of the largest Latin American telephone operators, a position he held until the end of 2005. The following year he returned to Italy to head the Wind Telecomunicazioni telephone group as CEO.[4] Between 2008 and 2011, he was senior advisor to the Dutch investment fund Cyrte Investments. In October 2011 he joined Pirelli as Executive President for Latin America for five years.[5][6] It was during Dal Pino's presidency that Pirelli Brazil financed the restructuration of the statue of Christ the Redeemer (statue) at Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro, after it had been damaged by lightning.

In 2009 he received honorary citizenship of the city of Rio de Janeiro.[7] From October 2016 until early 2018 he was CEO of Prometeon Tyre Group, the former Pirelli Industrial, the company that produces and markets Pirelli-branded Truck, Bus, Agro and OTR tyres.

Since 2018 he has been Chief Executive Officer of Tèlit Communication Plc. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Sace from 2016 to 2019 as an independent director and from 2008 to 2014 he was a member of the Board of Directors of Terna.[8]

In January 2020 Dal Pino became President of Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A|Lega Serie A, succeeding Gaetano Miccichè and after having previously come close to the presidency.[2][9] At the beginning of his presidency, he had to manage the difficult situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but managed to reach an agreement with the different clubs to resume the championship in total safety, although total safety remains pure utopia.[10]

In August then launched a process of transformation of Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A|Lega Serie A in order to bring Italian football back to the highest international levels, also trying to transform the company that includes the Serie A clubs into a media company, with important international investors.[11]

On 5 March 2021, with the re-election of Gabriele Gravina, he was elected deputy vice president of Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio|FIGC and member of the Presidential Committee.[12]
