Palle Srujana (Telugu: పల్లె సృజన) is an organization based in Hyderabad, India that, in line with the mission of the National Innovation Foundation - India, aids grassroots innovations by farmers in the Telugu states (the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana).[1] It is part of the India-wide Honeybee network, and works by scouting rural areas for innovations and other knowledge. Innovations and knowledge found are documented, with credit given to the innovator.[1] The organization helps gain patents for the innovators, and disseminates their innovations via village fairs known as Shodha Yatras, magazines, and farmers' meetings.[2][1] As of the summer of 2023, Palle Srujana has identified around 78 rural innovators and more than a thousand traditional practices, registering them with the National Innovation Foundation.[3] Of the innovators Palle Srujana has supported, three have won the Padma Shree Award.[3]

History

Palle Srujana has been working in villages since 2005.[2][1] In 2023, Palle Srujana was mentioned in G20's Civil 20 Policy Pack as an Udaaharan.[3]

Notable innovators

Chintakindi Mallesham, whose story was later adapted into the movie Mallesham in 2019[4], created the Lakshmi Asu machine to help weavers,[5] and was helped significantly by Palle Srujana in the process.[2]
