Dr. Meliha Pınar Sipahi (born 1981) is a Turkish architect and designer and director of the Bilişim Vadisi, Design, and Clustering Center. Since 2021, she has been the Turkish Ambassador to the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) and a member of the design jury of both the 2021 and 2022 competitions of the IF Design Talent program.[1]

In 2003, she completed her undergraduate degree in architecture at Yıldız Technical University, followed by a master's degree in 2007 at the same university, and a year of her doctoral studies at the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2013. Between 2008 and 2022, she gave undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of architectural design at Yıldız Technical University and worked on many design projects[2] and became a jury member in many different organizations and competitions.

Career

Between 2003 and 2005, in addition to being responsible for Publicity, Organization, and Graphic Design in the Press, Promotion and Public Relations Coordinator of the Rectorate of Yıldız Technical University; she participated in the design studies of the Davutpaşa Campus[3] site plan and faculty buildings in the Project Coordination Unit affiliated with the Research Planning Vice Rector. Aside from academic studies, she also has an interest in the design of public spaces, corporate identities, and the social dimensions of architecture. Several of her presentations and designs have been seen by international audiences in countries including Italy, Japan, and Canada.

In 2021, she became director of the Design and Clustering Center, Turkey's first international design center, which integrates design, technology, and culture as an ecosystem. As well as collaborating with designers in the fields of public art, fashion, and wearable technologies, she is also involved in future design projects with TÜBİTAK, Scientific and Technological Research Institution of Turkey.

Additionally, since 2020, she organizes the Italian Design Days[4] event in Turkey which is held simultaneously in 114 countries around the world.[5][6] In the year 2022, the event was held at Rahmi M. Koç Museum, İstanbul, with the participation of the Italy Consulate General of Turkey and many art and technology companies.[7]

She founded the Architectural Design Development Union (ADDU) in 2022 and has since worked on a wide range of architectural projects.
