Oxel is a small village of 341 hectares in Sanguem Tehsil in South Goa district, known and rated to have the best quality of life in India (based on the commission’s “12 Indicators”)[2] in the state of Goa, India.[3] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Oxel depends on SIOLIM, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[4] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Oxel is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Oxel's pin code is 403406[5], and village code is 00002700. The area of Oxel is segregated as 5.48 hectares irrigated area, 201.23 hectares unirrigated, the 0.91 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 132.96 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Oxel has One post office (Tisca S.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Oxel has One bank and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with One recreational center.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of SIOLIM and South Goa to sell country liquor and make their living.
