Orthopedic surgery, sometimes known as orthopaedics, is the subspecialty of surgery that focuses on the treatment of disorders of the skeleton and related tissues. Orthopedic surgeons treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine illnesses, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, cancers, and congenital problems using a combination of surgical and nonsurgical techniques.
