Orpheus Mukhoty is a Bengali Indian filmmaker, scriptwriter, poet and author of West Bengal, India.

Mukhoty passed from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He worked in the audio-visual industry for the past twenty years. He has directed two feature films Ei Shohore in 2017 and Aakashee Pullover in 2018. Aakashee Pullover has received twelve International awards in Chile which include Best Drama, Best narrative, Best Art Design, Best Actress.[1][2]

Presently he is preparing a Hindi black comedy film based on Sukumar Ray's 'Literary nonsense'.[3][4]

Childhood

Orpheus Mukhoty was born in Jalpaiguri. He is the only son of his parents named GN Mukhoty and Shaswati Mukhoty. He belongs to a very cultural family. In class VII he worked as an editor in a little magazine 'Hattimatim' from 1992 to 1994. After 1994 the name of that magazine was changed to 'Kranti'. He studied in Jalpaiguri Zilla School. After Higher Secondary Mukhoty came to Kolkata and admitted to Jadavpur University where he completed his Graduation in Bengali Honours course. Mukhoty wrote poems from an early age. In 1992 he published his own poetry book named 'Hattimatim' in the age of thirteen.

Career

Mukhoty started his career as an anchor in Tara TV, 2002, for the programme 'Voter Haowa'. He was an anchor of many type of shows in this channel, including 'Satyer Arale'(crime show), 'Ei Muhurte'(current affairs reality show). In 2003 he hosted a show 'Boipara Theke Boimela' in Akash Bangla. In 2004 Mukhoty also worked as a News Reader in Tara TV. He worked in scriptwriting department in Sangeet Bangla from 2005 for few days. Mr Orpheus Mukhoty worked as a lyricist in a music album 'Valobasar Mane', in 2000 and before this in 1998 publishing house Tiyash published his lyrical novel 'Bish Upakhyan'. His book of poem "Orpheus Er Kobita" was published by 'Charbak'. Mukhoty has worked as an Associate Creative Head for Balaji Telefilms from 2005 to 2007 . He also has experienced as an Executive Producer for Zee Bangla from 2006 to 2008.He have worked as an assistant director for 'Sundar jiban' directed by Sandeep Chatterjee,produced by SRFTI.

Film and Awards

Mukhoty directed two feature films, 'Ei shohore' and 'Aakashee Pullover' . Aakashee pullover is still not released for public hall in India, but it bagged many awards in various fest.
