Omar Hamed is an Egyptian Basketball player, born on the 22nd of January 1998. Omar was born in Alexandria, Egypt and currently resides in Sydney, Australia.

Egyptian national team

Omar was a part of the Egyptian basketball team participating in the 2013 U16 African championship. Omar appeared in five out of seven games, averaging 4 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. The Egyptian team won six out of seven games, losing to Angola in the grand final to win silver and qualify for the 2014 U17 Basketball World Cup in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. [1][2]

Basketball without borders

A few years later in July - August 2015, Omar was amongst five Egyptians participating in the Basketball Without Border (BWB) camp in Johannesburg, South Africa. Omar won the camp Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award.[3] Omar's performance was later selected to be a part of the BWB global camp in Toronto, Canada, occurring during the 2016 NBA All Star weekend.[4]

Move to australia

Omar made his Australian debut in the 2016 Division 1 Youth League with the Bankstown Bruins, scoring 6 points in the Bruins' 5th of March win over the Magic. Omar went on to appear in three more games, averaging three points a game.[5]According to a 2018 website, Omar is still playing in the Australian Waratah League Division 1 Youth Men with the Bankstown Bruins.[6]
