Omar Ahmed (born 2 February, 1984) is a former kickboxer and mixed martial artist who played a pivotal role in the development of mixed martial arts (MMA) in Pakistan. He also laid the foundation for the establishment of the Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation which is playing a pivotal part in getting mixed martalarts as a proper sport in Pakistan.[1][2]
Early life and education
Omar Ahmed was born into a military family and spent his early years in Pakistan. He completing a degree in journalism from Government College Lahore[3] and studied for two master's degrees in the United Kingdom.
Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation
He the President of Pakistan mma federation (IMAF).[4] The federation and Omar have been working had for getting MMA recognised throughout Pakistan and training and giving athletes a proper platform.[5][6][7]
Ahmed helped secure the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) Asian Championship for Pakistan.[8][9][10][11][12]
He has helped in talent development in Pakistan[13][14] and is working to create pathways for athletes to compete in global organisations and elevate the standards of MMA in Pakistan.[15][16][17][18]
