Oliver Fanshawe (born 10 February 2007) is an Australian multi-sport athlete who is blind. He is currently ranked World No. 2 in men's B2 singles blind tennis and World No. 1 in junior singles. Fanshawe has represented Australia internationally in blind tennis, blind cricket, and goalball.
Early life
Fanshawe was diagnosed with Peters Anomaly at nine days old and is legally blind.[1] He received a seeing eye dog named Sadie through Vision Australia, becoming the youngest person in the country to receive one.
He grew up in Brisbane, Queensland, and began participating in blind sports from an early age.
Tennis career
Fanshawe began competing in blind tennis as a junior and quickly rose through national and international rankings. By 2024, he had achieved the following:
- World No. 1 Junior B2 Singles[2]
- World No. 2 Men’s B2 Singles[3]
- Australian No. 2 Men’s B2 Singles
- Australian No. 1 B2 Doubles
International titles
Fanshawe has won or medalled in multiple international events:
- 2024 IBTA World Blind Tennis Championships – Junior Boys Singles Gold, Men’s Singles and Doubles Silver
- 2024 European Blind Tennis Championships – Men’s B2 Singles and Doubles Gold
- London Visually Impaired Championships – Singles and Doubles Champion
- Polish International Blind Tennis Open – Singles and Doubles Champion[4]
He received the Most Outstanding Athlete with a Disability award at the 2024 Queensland Tennis Awards.[5]
Cricket career
Fanshawe has played for the Australian Blind Cricket Team since 2022. He represented Australia at:
- 2022 Blind Cricket World Cup in India
- 2023 IBSA World Blind Games in England
- 2024 Ashes Series against England
He has also played for Queensland in the National Cricket Inclusion Championships.
Goalball
Between 2022 and 2024, Fanshawe was part of the Australian Goalball Squad (Aussie Storm). He was named in the All-Star 6 Team at the 2022 Australian Goalball National Championships and represented Australia at the Asia Pacific Regional Championships in Bahrain.

Personal life
Outside of sport, Fanshawe mentors junior blind athletes and is an advocate for inclusive sport. He completed Year 12 in 2024 and is pursuing university studies in exercise physiology.
