OTT, sometimes referred to as Over-The-Top compressor is a VST plug-in developed by Xfer, Inc. It first originated in the Digital audio workstation Ableton Live and was later re-created as a free VST plug-in by the company Xfer.

OTT is a multiband audio compressor. The plug-in works by splitting the audio into three bands and individually compressing each one of them, before combining the stems into one sound again. This can make the audio seem fuller, harsher and "in-your-face."

Use in music & reception

OTT is popular among EDM producers for its ease of use and near-instant results[1], although it has been criticized by professionals due to introducing unwanted changes to the sound's phase.
