Nouhaad Dammous (1933, Beirut, Lebanon - 8 March 2022, Paris)[1][2] was a prominent figure in the hospitality industry. His extensive career, spanning over six decades, earned him notable recognition,[3] including the prestigious honoris causa distinction and the National Order of the Cedar, conferred upon him by the President of the Republic of Lebanon in 2013.

Career

Nouhaad Dammous assumed a pivotal role in advancing hospitality education in Lebanon. In 1957, he was appointed director of Lebanon's inaugural hospitality school. He later became the director of the Hospitality Management Institute of Dekwaneh, where he served until 1996. During this period, Nouhaad played a pivotal role in establishing hotel schools in countries such as Iraq, Jordan, Syria, and Saudi Arabia, contributing significantly to the development of the hospitality industry in the region.[4]

In 1993, Nouhaad Dammous, in collaboration with his daughter Joumana and his late wife Claude, founded Hospitality Services, an event management and publishing company. This venture has played a crucial role in the industry by organizing events and contributing to disseminating knowledge within the field.[5][6]

Nouhaad also authored many books.

Recognition

His contributions to the industry led to his recognition as the "Hotelier of the Century" by the International Hotel & Restaurant Association in 2017.
