North Miami Beach, more usually abbreviated as NMB, is a city located in Miami-Dade County in the state of Florida, United States. In 1926, the city was given the name Fulford-by-the-Sea after Captain William H. Fulford, who served in the United States Coast Guard. In 1931, the name of the city was changed to North Miami Beach. At the time of the census in 2010, there were 41,523 people living there.

The storm that struck South Florida in 1926 effectively put an end to the real estate boom in that region. The citizens of the area banded together to form the Town of Fulford in an attempt to mitigate their losses and the damage that was done to the city. In 1927, the town officially became known as the City of Fulford when it was established.
