Noor Zaidi Bin Rohmat (born 15 February 1982) is a retired Malaysia footballer. He was a player for Selangor FA from youth level to senior team between year 1996 to 2004. He was also played in Malaysia Youth team U14, U16 and U23. He retired early because of major injury and continue his career as a football coach starting from 2009 holding a C licence. His career as a coach started from state level in 2010. At the age of 41 (2023), he finished a AFC Professional Diploma Football Coaching Course 2022-2023. Noor Zaidi Currently serves as Head Coach for Skuad Projek FAM - MSN.

Playing career

Noor Zaidi started his journey in as a footballer by playing for Selangor FA youth team from 1996 until 1999. Later on year 2000, he was included in senior team and played for 5 years[1][2].Noor Zaidi was part of Selangor FA squad that won Malaysia Charity Shield 2002, Malaysia Cup 2002, and Malaysia FA Cup 2001. He did scored 1 goal during 2001 Malaysia Cup edition.

In 2005, Noor Zaidi changed team and played for MPPJ Selangor F.C., a team from Petaling Jaya and played in Malaysia Super League. Noor Zaidi later joined Sukses F.C. to play in Malaysia FAM Cup. A year later he joined Proton F.C. that participated in the same tournament. Proton F.C. became champion of the cup on that year.

Coaching career

Club

Noor Zaidi started his career in coaching after he got FAM C license in 2009. Started as an assistant coach for MPSJ F.C. A club that played in Selangor League, a state level tournament. Year 2010 was a breaktrough as Noor Zaidi appointed as Head Coach for the team.

Noor Zaidi then started his involvement in national level by becoming assistant coach for Selangor FA U21 (2012, 2013)[3] and U19 (2014). In year 2015 after getting AFC A license, Noor Zaidi became head coach for Selangor FA U19 and guided the team to achieve champion of Piala Belia[4]. Noor Zaidi continued as a coach in 2016 and achieved runner-up of Piala Belia[5]. He also involved as assistant coach for senior team in 2016 and 2017[6]. In year 2018, Noor Zaidi became head coach for Selangor FA U21[7] in Piala Presiden (Malaysia). Noor Zaidi later joined Selangor FA U19 as a head coach for 2 years (2019,2020)[8]. The same year (2020), Noor Zaidi held the task as assistant coach for Selangor F.C. II[9], a team for player U23 that participated in Malaysia Premier League.

Noor Zaidi later changed team to become assistant coach for Skuad Projek FAM - MSN in 2021 and 2022[10]. The year 2023 brought new chapter to him as Noor Zaidi became the head coach for Skuad Projek FAM - MSN.[11]. He guided the team in newly formatted Malaysia MFL Cup. A tournament for the reserved team under 23.

Malaysia National Football Team

Noor Zaidi was called up to become assistant coach for the Malaysia U19 team in year 2022. The team participated and became champion of AFF U-19 Youth Championship[12]. Malaysia U19 also achieved runner up in Vietnam Newspaper Cup. Noor Zaidi also involved in Malaysia U19 AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifying.
