Noah Smith (Hebrew: נח סמית׳) is an American journalist for the Washington Post. His coverage has spanned politics,[1] elections[2], and defense[3] as well as video games and surfing[4].

In 2015, along with Irish journalist Rory Carroll, Noah reported on[5] a surf gang in Palos Verdes for The Guardian, which led to multiple federal and state lawsuits in an attempt to increase public access to the beach[6].

Smith's reporting on the beginning of the Overwatch League[7] in 2018 was one of the first instances of front page coverage for esports in national media. During Launcher's run, his work included an exclusive profile of Tfue[8], and investigations into toxicity and racism online[9] as well as abuse towards minors[10] and young adults by esports orgs. Smith's 2022 report[11] in the Washington Post detailed classified materials that were posted on Discord. Recognized as an expert in the field, he has been quoted and his work has been cited in books,[12][13][14][15] academic journals,[16][17][18][19][20] consulting industry reports,[21] and docuseries[22].

As a video producer, Smith has made features for NBC News on the decentralized web,[23] Kelly Slater's surf park,[24] and the Israeli military's combat camera unit[25].

In Israel, Smith's reporting has spanned two[26] conflicts[27], 2012's Operation Pillar of Defense and 2021's Operation Guardian of the Walls.

Smith appeared[28] alongside Chris Hemsworth in 2012's Red Dawn in the role of Joe.
