Dr Nitin Shakya[1] is a UPSC 2018 batch Bureaucrat[2] under Government of India. He is presently Subdivisional magistrate in New Delhi district.[3] He is known for initiative like Swasthyadoot,[4] Hasgullaclub,[5] Ummeed ki rasoi,[6] slums to harvard campaign.[7] He is also known for taking strict action[8] on ground mostly seen in widely circulated videos.

Early life

Shakya did his schooling from Kendriya vidhyalaya, janakpuri, New Delhi. Graduation MBBS and post graduation MD Anesthesia from Maulana Azad medical college. He is critical care medicine and Emergency management expert. He has worked in various hospitals like Lok nayak Hospital, G B Pant Hospital, ILBS and Janakpuri Superspeciality hospital. He started preparation for UPSC civil services and faced failures many times. After many failures he was able to secure a seat in UPSC Civil services and joined as Sub divisional magistrate.[1][9]

Extracurricular activities

Shakya has been part of various fashion shows and dancing shows. He had learnt dancing and choreography from Shiamak daver dance company. He has been part of fashion shows organised in association with Big Fm, RxKalpvraksha, Red Fm, Delhi tourism and other organisations. Recently he was showstopper in UTI awareness fashion show at Delhi Hatt, Janakpuri, New Delhi. He has also directed short motivational videos on smoking, child sex abuse, environment pollution.

Quack FIR

A clinic in BUDH nagar, Delhi was sealed by Sub divisional magistrate Dr Nitin Shakya and an FIR was registered against the quack dispensing medicines for respiratory disease. On getting the information of quack, Shakya raided the clinic and found that he prescriptions were found to be just blank pieces of paper and the doctor prescribing the allopathic medicines had a Unani degree as per the visiting card given by the person in the clinic. A case was registered under the Epidemic Diseases Act and the Disaster Management Ac, both of which have been invoked to manage the spread of Covid-19, along with the provision under the Delhi Medical Council Act, which is applicable otherwise also.[8][10][11]

Swasthyadoot

Dr Nitin shakya as part of Office of District Magistrate, New Delhi District started training the local residents in vital monitoring like pulse, BP, Respiratory rate, Sp02, PPE kits, Diet management and COVID 19 Management. He trained more than 20,000 swasthyadoot in Delhi. This came very useful in Covid 19 management.[12]

Controversy

A duty doctor in Rajeev Gandhi Super speciality hospital offered resignation alleging that the sub-divisional (SDM) magistrate Shakya had misbehaved with him. As per reports[13] Shakya had found some patients' negligence on The matter was highlighted in death of actor Rahul Vohra whereby the patient alleged that he was not getting adequate treatment at the said hospital and similar cases erupted one after the other. The case is under investigation.[14][15]
