Nilufer Erdebil is a Canadian entrepreneur, author, professional engineer, and recognized expert in design thinking. She is the founder and CEO of Spring2 Innovation [1], a consultancy firm specializing in human-centered design and organizational transformation.

Early life and education

Erdebil was born in Istanbul, Turkey and moved to Canada at a young age. She obtained both her Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (1996) and Masters of Business Administration (2003) Queen's University, Canada.

Career

Erdebil has held Software Engineering roles at General Dynamics, CrossKeys Systems (now part of Oracle Corporation), Marconi Wireless (now Ericsson), as well as Bell Canada working in Director and Management roles. As CEO of Spring2 Innovation [1], which she founded in 2011 [2] and was incorporated in 2017 [3], Erdebil leads a team that provides training, consulting, and knowledge transfer to organizations undergoing digital or service transformations. Her approach emphasizes aligning teams, understanding customer needs, and fostering collaborative environments to ensure successful project outcomes. She is also an associate at Think Digital, a Canadian-based think-tank for businesses [4].

Contributions and recognition

Erdebil is an award-winning expert in design thinking. She has worked extensively with government and private sector organizations to shape strategy, facilitate change, and launch new products and services. Her methodologies are widely recognized for their approach that involves focusing on users and user-centric design, especially empathetic thinking.

She often does speaking engagements and has delivered talks at TEDxOttawa [5] and for organizations such as FWD50 - CircleSquare in 2019 [6]. Advocacy and community involvement

She is a FutureEDge Consultant [12] at Carleton University and a part-time speaker for Carleton's Technology Innovation Management (TIM) [13] program. She has also participate in government workshops designed to determine how women can become more engaged in Canada's innovation agenda [14]. She was a National Board Member (Chair of Regions) at Canadian Women in Communications and Technology from February 2015 to February 2020, the Chair of National Capital Region at Canadian Women in Communications and Technology from July 2013 to February 2015, Vice Chair of National Capital Region at Canadian Women in Communications from January 2010 to June 2013, and a Board Member at Queen's School of Business Ottawa Alumni Board Member from January 2011 to February 2015.

Awards

Erdebil was an award winner of Ottawa Business Journal's Forty Under 40 in 2014, the WCT Leadership Award in 2016, and the Business Consulting Canada CEO of the Year in 2017.

Personal Life

Nilufer Erdebil is based in Ottawa, Ontario. Outside of her professional work, she is an avid figure skater; participating in many competitive events under the Rideau Skating Club throughout the year [15][16].
