Nikolas Bentel (born November 23, 1993) is a New York-based Italian-American artist[citation needed] and designer mostly known for designing limited-edition experimental objects.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]

Early life and education

Nikolas Bentel was born to Carol Bentel and Paul Bentel.[9] He was raised in New York.[10] Bentel graduated from the Brown University- Rhode Island School of Design Dual Degree Program in 2017. He studied Modern Culture and Media at Brown University and Industrial Design at RISD. He completed his master's in Architecture from Columbia University, Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation, in 2022.[11][12][1][2][3][4][5][7][8]

Career

Bentel uses alternate forms of product design, advertising, and performance art.[11][13] He designs and releases small, limited-edition objects.[14] In 2018, he purchased a 1973 untitled print by Robert Rauschenberg and created The Erased Rauschenberg.[15][16] The art piece was auctioned for $21,000.[16][17]

Bentel formerly worked out of the New Inc art + design office at The New Museum.[1][2][3][4][5][7][8]

Bentel has a twin sister Michela Bentel and a brother Lukas Bentel who are also artists, musicians, and sports enthusiasts.[9]
