Nikolai Siniak (born September 11, 1972) is a Belarusian scientist, economist, PhD in Economics, Rector of Private Institute of Management and Business in Minsk.

Biography

In 1995 Nikolai Siniak graduated with honors from Belarusian State Technological University in the study program “Forestry Machinery and Equipment.” In 1998 he completed his postgraduate studies in “National Economics and Management” at the same University. Later he also did his doctoral studies at Belarusian State Technological University. In 2001 Nikolai Siniak underwent retraining in the study program “The English Language” at Minsk State Linguistic University.[1]

Nikolai Siniak defended his thesis to obtain a PhD in Economics in the study program “National Economics and Management” at Belarusian State Technological University in 1998. The topic of his thesis was “Methods of Justifying a Furniture Enterprise Production Program.” In 2005 the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus granted him an academic rank of an Associate professor (Docent) in Economics.

Nikolai Siniak has worked at the woodworking and mechanical engineering enterprises in Slonim and Minsk. 1998 to 2017 he worked at Belarusian State Technological University. Within 2008 – 2009 he was a Head of the Department of Chemical and Forestry Industry Economics and Management at this University. 2009 to 2019 Siniak headed the Department of Production Organization and Real Estate Economics.[2] Since 2018 Nikolai Siniak has been a professor[3] and since 2018 – a dean of the Applied Information Theory, Machine Intelligence and Robotics Department at University of Information Science and Technology "St. Paul The Apostle" in Ohrid, North Macedonia.[4] Nikolai Siniak has been a researcher at the Social and Economic Relations Faculty at Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, Slovakia. He has also worked as a Vice President in the field of international development at Swiss UMEF University in Geneva (Switzerland)[5] and as a visiting professor at West Saxon University of Applied Sciences of Zwickau (Germany).

On 26 October 2020 the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus issued an order and appointed Nikolai Siniak to the position of the Rector of Private Institute of Management and Business in Minsk.[6]

Scientific interests

Siniak’s scientific interests are concentrated in the fields of digital economy, smart sustainable development, management, business economics, real estate economics and real estate evaluation and management. He conducts research in forestry economics and timber industry development and innovative and sustainable business and economics development. Nikolai Siniak is engaged in economic and mathematical modelling and searching solutions to modern issues in economics and management aimed at sustainable development. He studies opportunities to increase efficiency of use and involvement of state property in economic activity and enterprise restructuring issues.

Social activity

Nikolai Siniak has been a special representative of the Eurasian Economic Cooperation Organization (EECO) Secretary General in the European Union (since 2018)[7]. He is a Chairman of the EECO Committee on Science and Education. Nikolai Siniak is a member of the Higher Council for Eurasian Real Estate Market, German Society of Property Researchers, European Real Estate Society, etc.[8] He is a national certified expert in the field of public-private partnership.
