Nika Shakhnazarova (born 14 December 1996) is a British journalist, editor, and reporter, who is the former UK Editor of the New York Post[1] and Page Six,[2] and is the current Assistant Editor of the Daily Mail US.
Early life
Shakhnazarova was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia on 14 December 1996. The eldest daughter of Inna and Sergey Shakhnazarov, she has a younger sister, Martina.[3]. Before her career in journalism, Shakhnazarova was a competitive tennis player,[4] and attended Claremont Fan Court School in Esher, Surrey, graduating in 2014.
In 2014, Shakhnazarova earned a full NCAA Division I scholarship to Towson University in Maryland, USA, where she competed in the top spot during her four-year course.[3] At Towson, Shakhnazarova set a university record with a 23-2 win-loss record in her freshman year. Shakhnazarova was named to the All Colonial Athletic Association(CAA) tennis team in both her freshman and sophomore years.[5]
Shakhnazarova graduated from Towson in 2018 with honors, earning a double major in Mass Communication with a focus on New Media & Journalism and Advertising. She received the Ray Bender and Mary Ann Duncan Scholarship for Outstanding Journalism Students.
Career
After graduating from college in May 2018, Shakhnazarova joined The Sun in London as a digital news reporter at 21, making her the youngest staff member at the time. In December 2019, Shakhnazarova joined The Daily Mirror as a senior Celebrity & Entertainment Reporter, leading the publication's entertainment coverage.[6] In 2021, Shakhnazarova became the News & Entertainment Editor at VT, a US outlet operated by British digital media company Jungle Creations. In April 2022, Shakhnazarova became the UK Editor of the New York Post and Page Six,[1] leading all UK coverage for the tabloid and fronting its London bureau[7]. In October 2025, Shakhnazarova joined the Daily Mail US in New York City, USA, as their Assistant Editor.[8] She currently resides in Manhattan.
