Nicola Marinangeli (born 14 May 2003) is an Italian racing driver from the town of Foligno. He's currently competing in the 2020 Formula Renault Eurocup for Bhaitech Racing.

Career

Italian F4

Marinangeli's first season in single seaters was in 2018 racing in the Italian F4 Championship for PR Formula. He competed in the final round at Mugello, wet and unpredictable conditions saw the rookie finish all 3 races below 20th along with a retirement in race two.[1] 2019 saw Marinangeli return to the series full time this time with Bhaitech Racing in the number 14 car.[2] Despite not scoring any points throughout the season Marinangeli had a few midfield battles and his best finish of 13th came on two separate occasions.

UAE F4

Marinangeli was one of 5 drivers to race for Xcel Motorsport in the 2019 Formula 4 UAE Championship. His first race resulted in him colliding with Omani driver Shihab Al Habsi half way through the race causing him to finish 9th and last of the finishers. A string of bad results followed, along with a four way crash with all three Dragon Racing cars and Cram Motorsport’s Filip Kaminiarz causing damage to Marinangeli's car forcing him to take his second of three retirements that season. Marinangeli finished the season early with a best result of 7th, he ended the season last with 37 points. The 2020 Formula 4 UAE Championship saw 10 cars fielded by Xcel Motorsport, one of which being driven by the returning Marinangeli.[3] He started the season off well by finishing 2nd in the 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix support race, along with the fastest lap of the race. The first 6 races saw Marinangeli finish on the podium 5 times, it would've been 6 out of 6 if he hadn't been out of position in the second race of round 2 as he was awarded a 10 second penalty after finishing 2nd. Contact caused him to retire for the first time that season in the last race of round 2. Marinangeli took his first ever victory after passing Mexican Erick Zuñiga late on at the Yas Marina Circuit. He would finish on the podium three more times and end the season 5th with 202 points.[4]

Formula Renault Eurocup

On June 20 2020, Bhaitech Racing announced Marinangeli will partner László Tóth and Lorenzo Colombo for their Formula Renault Eurocup campaign in 2020.[5]
