Nick Taranto is an American entrepreneur and Ex- Marine Corps infantry officer. He is best known as the co-founder of Plated, a meal kit service.​[1][2]

Early Life and Education

Taranto was born in New York, with a Turkish father and a mother hailing from Minnesota. He graduated from Dartmouth College and later earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.​

Career

After his time as an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, Taranto took a big step and co-founded Plated in 2012 aiming to provide convenient, chef-designed meal kits to consumers.[3] In addition to shipping tens of millions of meals throughout the US, Plated has generated over 1,000 jobs in four states.[4] The company gained national attention after appearing on the television show "Shark Tank" in 2014, where they secured an investment from Mark Cuban. In 2017, Plated was acquired by Albertsons Companies, a major grocery retailer.​[5][6]

Publications

In 2018, Taranto authored the book "The Evolved Eater," which discusses his entrepreneurial journey and perspectives on the food industry.​[7]
