Occupation

Nicholas Jackiw (born 1966) is an American software designer and mathematics education researcher. He is the creator of The Geometer's Sketchpad (computer software, 19912009),^{[1]}^{[2]} and with it, a technologicallymediated geometric visualization paradigm he named “Dynamic Geometry”^{[3]} that has become widespread^{[4]} in subsequent interactive geometry software. Jackiw also designed and created TouchCounts and TouchTimes, which (like Sketchpad) explore novel gestural, embodied, and haptic approaches to mathematics.^{[5]}^{[6]}
As a researcher in mathematics education, Jackiw publishes on pedagogic software design^{[7]}, especially for mathematics. Jackiw’s software titles are the subject of considerable scholarly research in mathematics and mathematics education,^{[8]} and have received various industry awards (including "Best Educational Software of All Time").^{[9]} In 2018, Jackiw received the Prize for Excellence of the International Society for Design and Development in Education.^{[10]}
