Nizar Ezzouhri (نزار الزوهري, born 15 September 2000), known by his stage name Nezar, is a Moroccan rapper and songwriter, Nezar typically mixes Darija, French, and English in his songs and performances.

Personal life

Born in Azilal to Moroccan parents. Nezar's early life was marked by several relocations due to his father's occupation. In 2011, his family moved to Taounate, and in 2016, they relocated to Larache, a city he now considers his home. It was in Larache that Nezar began to explore his passion for music.

Career

Nezar initially entered the music scene as a breakdancer, participating in local competitions with friends. Over time, his performances began to attract a growing audience. His interest in rap music developed more seriously in 2017 after sharing a freestyle recording with a friend, which catalyzed his artistic ambitions.

By 2020, at the age of 19, Nezar's talent started to receive wider recognition. During the COVID-19 lockdown, he won a digital challenge organized by prominent Moroccan rapper Don Bigg and emerged victorious in two #NoClashChallenge rap battles hosted by LiveRoom.[1]. These achievements marked significant milestones in his career.

In 2021, Nezar gained further visibility through his participation in the LEMBAWE9 rap podcast[2], which focuses on the northern Moroccan rap scene. That same year, he released three singles, building a dedicated fan base. His first EP, titled Paradox, was produced during an artist residency at LABO studios[3] and featured five tracks that achieved notable success across various platforms.

Nezar's career continued to ascend in 2024 when he won the Jamshow competition[4][5], broadcast on Morocco's national TV channel, 2M. The victory earned him a prize of $25,000 and further boosted his popularity. During this period, his tracks "L7ob" and "Jawab" gained significant traction, trending on multiple platforms[6][7]
